The ribbon-cutting for the Grand Opening of The Bearded Dragon Barber Shop took place November 09, 2023 on the 1 year Anniversary of first opening in Villa Nova Plaza in Downtown Conception Bay South. Owner and award-winning stylist Amy Pike was joined by Mayor Darrin Bent, Liberal MP Ken McDoanld, and PC MHA Barry Petten for the ceremony along with Deputy Mayor Andrea Gosse, and Councillor Joshua Bennett as well as representatives of the Downtown Conception Bay South Businesses Improvement Association Jacqui Morgan and Julia Bloomquist.

“Business owner Amy Pike holds the prestigious 2022 Skills Canada Gold Medal, representing Canada in Finland for hairstyling and securing an impressive 14th place on the global stage. Her talents have also earned her the Artistic Award from O'Reagan Distributors.”

Christine Hand receives award from Downtown CBS Chair

Christine Hand, first Chair of Downtown CBS was recognized for her dedication to the Conception Bay South business community by the current Chair Keith Bailey at the annual Downtown CBS Business Improvement Association Member Networking Breakfast.

Christine Hand is dealer-owner of Handyman Home Hardware in C.B.S. and was elected chair of the national board of directors of Home Hardware Stores Limited in Canada in 2012.

Hand operated Handyman Home Hardware in Downtown Conception bay South since 1988 and became the owner four years later. She also served as chairwoman of the fund-raising campaign for Manuels River Hibernia Interpretation Centre.
